Mist Tokens

From The Domains of Dread

Mist Tokens, shorthand MT, are denominations of the account-bound metacurrency in The Domains of Dread, awarded to players upon character closure, including Dread Figures. Mist Tokens do no expire and they are not capped in any way. They are awarded in increments of 5, where 5 is the lowest cost for an option and 100 the highest.

Earning Mist Tokens

As above, Mist Tokens are bound to the account - that is to say, the CD key - of the player. There is no method to earn MT other than through character closure. The intent behind such a restriction is to encourage the permanent conclusion of character storylines and to provide perks for future characters.

The value awarded per closure is determined by the Game Masters using a variety of factors. Generally speaking characters who have reached the 14th level and achieved story milestones such as becoming a notable figure within a supported faction will be awarded more MT than upon the closure of a character who did not achieve the same milestones combined with some random fuzzing. Characters must be played for at least 60 days IRT before becoming eligible for MT upon closure unless they were a Dread Figure, where the minimum is instead shortened to 30 days IRT. Available Mist Tokens may be checked in the player menu, summoned with the !menu or !m chat command.

Spending Mist Tokens

Mist Tokens are spent buying perks during character creation to apply to that character and that character only. Unless otherwise specified, a player may choose to buy as many perks as they can afford, however only one perk per category may be selected.
